Jack M. Underwood Sr., 88; WWII veteran
Jack M. Underwood Sr., 88, of Louisville, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Lincoln Hills Health Care Center in New Albany.
He was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Winifred Lynn Parker and her husband, Charles; sons, Vernon Underwood and his wife, Sandra, Oliver Underwood and his wife, Barbara, Jack Underwood Jr. and his wife, June, Gerald Underwood, Wendell Underwood and Eric Underwood and his wife, Jamie; sisters, Nettie of Cleveland, and Nana of Albuquerque, N.M.; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie M. Underwood, daughter, Jacqueline M. Payne and parents, Mattie Stovall and Bishop Underwood.
Visitation will be at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4033 Vermont Ave., Louisville, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family has requested cremation and Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel, Evansville, is in charge of arrangements.
