Lucille Kay Thompson Wingler, 68; of Clarksville
Funeral services for Lucille Kay Thompson Wingler, 68, of Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarksville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville. She died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.
She was born Dec. 2, 1941, raised in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. She graduated from the old General Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, working with the hospital until 1973. She then went to Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville until retiring in January of 1998. She held many positions in the hospital, including director of nursing, risk management, employee health nurse and aided in setting up the nursing departments on the computer system. She earned her B.A. degree from St. Mary’s of the Woods in 1979, and her M.A. from Webster University in 1984. After a few months of retirement, she joined THS as assistant director of nursing until 2006. She was a member of the Georgetown Community Church, also serving on their board for several years. She also was a member of the Hoosier China Painters Guild having served as their president. Her faith, family and friends were her greatest treasure along with gardening.
Survivors include her son, Richard Wingler and his wife, Carrie; sister, Ruth Ann Frizzell; grandchildren, Justin T. Wingler, Amber L. Wingler and Jeremiah Mikel; niece, Gina Carpenter and her husband, Ron; nephew, David Frizzell and his wife, Angel; son-in-law Larry Mikel; and great-nephews, Bradley A., Kendall I., and Jesse C. Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; daughter, Sonya Lynn Mikel; parents, Ralph N. and E. Fern Moody Thompson; and great-nephew, Perry W. Frizzell.
Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
