Michael David Prather

Michael David Prather, 45; of Charlestown

Funeral services for Michael David Prather, 45, of Charlestown, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with interment in Silver Creek Cemetery. He died Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Minnesota, after a five year battle with leukemia.

He was a 1981 graduate of Silver Creek High School and a 1983 graduate from electronics school in Louisville. He started his working life at Wang Electronics in Chicago and Frankfort, Ky. with his most recent position being a splicer for AT&T.; He was also a member of the Hamburg Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Prather; three sons, Mathew Paul Prather, Steven D. Lawson, Jr. and Joseph M. Lawson; his father, Paul David Prather, Sellersburg; his mother, Marilyn Chastain Prather, Jeffersonville; a brother, Eric Kent Prather, Greenville; a sister, Jan Michele Rios, Jeffersonville; aunts, Helen Prather LaMaster and Joann Cash; and uncles, Victor E. Prather, Earl E. Prather and Gene Chastain.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6 and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hamburg or Sellersburg Church of Christ.
