Philip L. Andres, 96; of Sellersburg

A funeral Mass for Philip L. Andres, 96, of Sellersburg, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Sellersburg, with burial in Sellersburg Cemetery. He died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 27, 1912 in Floyds Knobs, to the late George and Mary Libs Andres. He was a charter member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sellersburg and a member of the St. Paul Men’s Club. He retired as a joiner operator at the old Hoosier Panel Veneer Company in New Albany after 34 years of service.

Survivors include a son, Ronald L. Andres and wife, Ruth Anne, of Sellersburg; two daughters, Dorothy M. Bertrand and husband, Earl, of Sellersburg and Donna C. Whiteley (Jim Costin), of Clarksville; two sisters, Wilhelmina Beavins and Florence Renn; six grandchildren, Rhonda Bertrand, Julia Faris, Laura Stoner and husband, Micky, Eric Andres, Maria Beyl and husband, Scott and Andrea Fisher and husband, Joseph; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Helen Sprigler Andres; brothers, Hubert, Leroy, James and Wilford Andres; and sister, Katherine Eberle.

A special thanks to the staff at the Bennett House for all their care and support.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
