Elvin Eugene Dickson, 75; Army veteran

Funeral services for Elvin Eugene Dickson, 75, of Sellersburg, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Garr Funeral Home, Sellersburg, with cremation to follow. He died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at St. Catherine Hospital, Charlestown.

He was a semi-truck driver for many companies for more than 40 years as an owner operator. He was a Silver Creek High School graduate and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Sellersburg Church of Christ, American Legion Post 204 and the International Tractor Club.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Butler Dickson; a son, Donald Dickson, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Carrie Dickson, of Memphis; brothers, Louis Dickson, of Lakeland, Fla. and Norman Dickson, of Lanesville; grandchildren, John Kelly, Rob Kelly, Shawn Dickson, Shanonn Dickson and Kevin Dickson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Edith Frakes Dickson; and a sister, Thelma Sprinkel.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
