Catherine C. ‘Camilla’ Amster, 89; of New Albany

Funeral services for Catherine C. “Camilla” Amster, 89, of New Albany, will be at noon Friday, July 3, at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany, with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. She died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.

She was the former Catherine C. Brown, a native of New Albany and was a member of DePauw Memorial United Methodist Church in New Albany. She was formerly a house mother for the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at Hanover College and worked as a receptionist at IUS prior to retirement.

Survivors include three sons, Phillip Amster, of Atlanta, Patrick Amster, of New Albany and Christopher Amster and wife, Dana, of New Albany; two daughters, Lou Ellen Newton and husband, Sonny, of New Albany and Star LaDuke, of Memphis; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zol M. Amster Sr.; and a son, Zol Marc Amster Jr.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to The Dare to Care Food Bank, 5803 Fern Valley Road, Louisville, KY. 40228.
