Melvin L. Wagner, 77; of New Albany

Funeral services for Melvin L. Wagner, 77, of New Albany, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3, at Kraft Funeral Services, Spring Street Chapel, New Albany, with private burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. He died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services, New Albany.

He was a native and former resident of Evansville and the Chandler area, where he met his wife of some 56 years, Wanda A. Barnes Wagner. He retired from the Gardiner Lane Post Office in Louisville after 43 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He and his wife were both avid bowlers in both Lousiville and the southern Indiana area for many years. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and fellow bowlers. He was a longtime member of the First Church of God in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Wanda A. Barnes Wagner; son, Denver L. Wagner and his wife, Debra, of New Albany; daughter, Elizabeth A. Craddock, of New Albany; grandchildren, Gary Craddock and his wife, April, Kelly Craddock and her husband, Jeff Robinson, and Courtney and Leeann Wagner; great-grandchildren, Devin and Dezi; sister, Doris Alter and her husband, Bill, of Macy; and extended family, Tracy and Rose Harden of Sellersburg, Jennifer Brown and her husband, Jason, and Jessica Harden.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. today.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Lung Association.
