Joyce K. Habermel; 83, of New Albany

Funeral services for Joyce K. Habermel, 83, of New Albany, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Albany. She died Friday, July 3, 2009, at her home.

She was the former Joyce Kelton, a native of Oneida, Ky., and a retired secretary from Indiana University Southeast. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She will be remembered and missed for her great sense of humor and her love of UK basketball. She was a loving, caring, devoted and patient mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her son, Robert Habermel; son, John Habermel and his children, Jonathon, Zachary, Alex and Natalee; son, William Habermel; son, Jeffrey Habermel and his wife, Shannon, and their children, Brock, Zachary and Payton; daughter, Lana Celton and her children, Maureen, Shannon and Erin O’Mara and a great-granddaughter, Zoe; daughter, Connie Perrot and her husband, Ronald, and their son, Gene, and his wife, Suzanne, and their son, Jackson; daughter, Laura Mullins and her husband, Dan, and their daughter, Sasha; daughter, Kathy Redden and her husband, Keith, and their children, Christine and William Hoffman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Habermel; parents, Ezra and Elizabeth Kelton; and two brothers, Ralph and Tom Kelton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes, Oak Street Chapel, New Albany.

Expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hosparus — Hospice of Southern Indiana.
