Ethel Louise Porter; 101, of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for Ethel Louise Porter, 101, of Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, at New Progressive Baptist Church, 4712 Middle Road, Jeffersonville, with burial in Eastern Cemetery. She died Friday, July 3, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 8, 1908 in Evansville. She was a member of New Progressive Baptist Church in Jeffersonville; United Methodist Women; NAACP; Jeffersonville Township Library Board; Lillian LeMon Music Club; Homemakers Club; and Jeffersonville Council of Churches.

Survivors include her four daughters, Mary Whitticker, of Evansville, Grace Johnson, of Texas, Margaret Rose Porter-Wright, of Jeffersonville, and Lori J. Porter Green and her husband, Travis Green, of Jeffersonville; two sons, Corden Porter Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Louisville, and Stephen Porter and his wife, Shirley, of Cincinnati; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Moore and Sophronia Shaw Moore; husband of 37 years, Corden Porter; and daughter, Ethel Mae Porter.

Visitation will be at New Progressive Baptist Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
