Stephen ‘Steve’ Whipple Tilton, 73; of Jeffersonville

Funeral services for Stephen “Steve” Whipple Tilton, 73, of Jeffersonville, will be at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, with burial taking place at a later date in Abel’s Hill Cemetery, Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. He died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.

He was born in Oak Bluffs, Mass., and was the vice president of Tilton Equipment Company. He enjoyed fishing, cooking for others and telling stories.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Tilton; daughters, Stephanie Tilton, of Edgartown, Ma., Jennifer Tilton, of North Attleboro, Ma. and Faith Schmidt and her husband Martin, of Forest Lake, Minn.; siblings, David Butler Tilton and his wife, Carol Ann, of Rye, N.H., Carolyn Medgyesy and her husband, John, of Attleboro, Ma., Philip Reynolds, of Edgartown, Mass. and Audrey Tilton, of Vineyard Haven, Mass.; and grandchildren, Jessica Schmidt, of Charlotte, N.C., Mark Schmidt, of Blaine, Minn.; and Jake Schmidt and his wife, Crystal, of Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

Visitation at the funeral home will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Butler Tilton and Caroline Osborn Seacord; and sister, Peggy Tilton.
