Frances Graves

Frances Graves, 72; of Clarksville

Funeral services for Frances Graves, 72, of Clarksville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville, 222 Walnut St., with burial in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery. She died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.

She was born April 4, 1937, in Evansville. She graduated from Bosse High School and Purdue University. While growing up she was a permanent fixture on the front row of Roberts Stadium rooting on the Purple Aces, and during the baseball season she was always seen on the third base line at Bosse Field rooting for the Evansville Braves. In later years, her sports passion was centered on Purdue University and the Atlanta Braves. She was active in Goodwill and Goodwill International where she held many offices. She and her husband are active members of the Jeffersonville First Presbyterian Church where she was chairperson of the food committee.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Bryan; a son, Guy Graves and his wife, Shirley, of Sellersburg; a daughter, Katherine Ahrens and her husband, Kenny, of Floyds Knobs; four grandchildren, Geoffrey and Corinne Graves, of Sellersburg and Brice and Abby Ahrens, of Floyds Knobs; a sister, Helen Hallford, Robertsdale, Ala.; and a niece, a nephew, and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, from 4 to 7 p.m. today.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the endowment fund at First Presbyterian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
