Joseph ‘Tom’ Wells Jr., 83; WWII, Korean and Vietnam Army veteran

Funeral Services for Joseph “Tom” Wells Jr., 83, of Jeffersonville, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Scott Funeral Home’s North Chapel, Jeffersonville, with military burial honors in the Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Clark Memorial Hospital, Jeffersonville.

He was a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., an ordained Deacon at First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, and a retired master sergeant in the United States Army, serving in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam wars.

Survivors include his wife, the former Betty Gillooly; son, Thomas L. Wells and his wife, Patty, of Jeffersonville; daughter, Paula Briner and her husband, Don, of Jeffersonville; stepdaughter, Diane M. Link and her husband, Gerald, of Louisville; brother, Harvey E. Wells and his wife, Yolanda, of Rochester, Mich.; sister, Geraldine Maddox, of Rexton, Mich.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation at the funeral home will be form 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
