Gene Paul Raines Sr., 64; Army veteran
Funeral services for Gene Paul Raines Sr., 64, of Charlestown, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown. He died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Veterans Hospital in Louisville.
He was born Feb. 9, 1945, in Westernport, Md., the son of Harold P. and Mildred Westfall Raines. He was a former staff sergeant in the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sherry Perkins; two sons, Gene P. Raines Jr., of Fostoria, Ohio and Robert H. Raines, of Nabb; two daughters, Jaime A. Striplin, of Mt. Savage, Md. and Gina L. O’Neil, of Charlestown; four brothers, Norman Raines, of Keyser, W. Va., Gary Raines, of Front Royal, Va., Richard Allen Raines, of Trentwoods, N.C. and Thomas Raines, of Westernport, Md.; grandchildren, Savannah, Summer and Nikiah Raines, Daniel Striplin and Autumn Robinson; and great-grandson, Jesse Robinson.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
