Richard Joseph ‘Joe’ Armstrong , 67; Navy veteran
Funeral services for Richard Joseph “Joe” Armstrong, 67, of Charlestown, will be at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Grayson Funeral Home, Charlestown, with burial in the Charlestown Cemetery. He died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Saint Catherine Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 26, 1941, in Salem, the son of Bruce and Phyllis Stewart Armstrong. He was a retired employee from Ford Motor Company. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, member of the American Legion Post 335 and Blazing Star Masonic Lodge 226.
He is survived by his wife, the former Regina Campbell; son, Phillip Armstrong, of Charlestown; a daughter, Doris Armstrong and husband, John, of Charlestown; brothers, David Armstrong and his wife, Betty, of Jeffersonville, Bruce Armstrong Jr. and his wife, Arlea, of Bumpass, Va., Bill Armstrong and his wife, Colleen, of Derry, N.H., Tom Armstrong and his wife, Laura, of Warren, Ohio and Jerry Armstrong and his wife, Anita, of Charlestown; sisters, Judy Kelley and her husband, Dan, of Whitehouse, Texas, Carol Crowe and her husband, Darryl, of Marysville, and Saralee Boyd and her husband, John, of Easley, S.C.; grandson, Justin Armstrong and his wife, Shelia, of Charlestown; granddaughter, Destiny Armstrong, of Charlestown; great-grandson, Cam’den “C.J.” Armstrong; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James “Jim” Armstrong.
Visitation at the funeral home was from noon to 8 p.m., with Masonic services at 7 p.m., on Monday.
