Laura Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Jacques, 87; of New Albany

Funeral services for Laura Elizabeth “Liz” Jacques, 87, of New Albany, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Paul F. Kraft Sr. Memorial Chapel at Generations Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, with burial in Mount Tabor Cemetery in New Albany. She died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.

She retired after 34 years with Indiana Bell Telephone Company in New Albany. She was member of the First Baptist Church, New Albany and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She loved working with her family genealogy. She was born on July 23, 1922, in New Albany to the late Jess and Maude P. Thomas Jacques.

Survivors include her sisters, Ruth Richey and her husband, Elba, of Nashville, Tenn. and Mildred Plue, of New Albany; brother, Vernon Jacques and his wife, Eileen, of New Albany; nieces, Diane Haupt and her husband, Jeff, of Franklin, Tenn., and Laura Brown and her husband, Greg, of Charlestown; nephews, Darrell Richey and his wife, Karen, of Indianapolis, David Richey, of Longmont, Colo., Robert Jacques and his wife, Susan, of Marquette, Mich., Dean Richey and his wife, Norma and Doug Jacques, all of New Albany.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Floyd County Animal Rescue League, P. O. Box 285, New Albany, 47150. Online condolences to the family may be made at generationsfuneralhome.com.
