Anna Lee ‘Ann’ Singleton Alllen, 79; of Clarksville

A memorial service for Anna Lee “Ann” Singleton Allen, 78, of Clarksville, will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, in the Paul F. Kraft Sr. Memorial Chapel at Generations Funeral Home, New Albany. She died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany.

She retired from the Clarksville Community School Corporation and worked for the Clarksville Police Department Safety Division. She was a former member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Sellersburg and was an avid collector of pig menagerie. She enjoyed mowing the lawn and yard sales, most importantly, she loved her family.

She was born Aug. 9, 1931, in Hazard, Ky., to the late Lucian and Mae Gayhart Singleton.

Survivors include her children, Barb Keller, of Corydon, Perry Knight and his wife, Holly, of Lanesville and Carlene Grammer and her husband, David, of New Albany; sister, Rose Love, of Georgetown; brother, Jay Singleton, of Louisville; grandchildren, Brian Keller and his wife, Kristy, Brandi Hignite and her husband, Lance, Jacob Knight, Jessica Anderson and her husband, Derek, and Crystal Grammer; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jordan Knight, Mya Anderson, and Skilee Hignite.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Wooldridge; and brothers, Jack, Red, and George Singleton.

Ann’s wish was to donate her body to the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Memorial visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to the University of Louisville School of Medicine in her memory.
