... to three Jeffersonville athletes who did Indiana proud last week at the 2010 Special Olympics National Games, in Lincoln, Neb.
Jordan Sisco, 20, of Jeffersonville, earned four gold medals in aquatics; Jason Evans, 40, of Jeffersonville, earned a bronze medal in golf with the help of his nondisabled partner, Michael Burk, from Elizabeth; and Bobby Hilbert, 52, of Jeffersonville, finished fourth in the nine-hole stock play golf event.
Nearly 3,000 athletes from 50 states competed from July 18 to 23 at the event in front of about 30,000 people, according to Special Olympics Indiana. Read more about these winning athletes in Sunday’s Evening News.

... to the first look at the new $238 million downtown Louisville arena — the KFC Yum! Center.
Media members got a tour Thursday and seemed to walk away impressed. The most important step the Louisville Arena Authority took was to visit numerous similar facilities built in the past 15 years. Developers were able to pick out great aspects of those buildings and ask leaders at other facilities what they would have done differently if given a mulligan.
The arena is going to be an asset to Louisville and Southern Indiana, especially with where it’s built — within view of downtown Jeffersonville.
I also applaud Jeffersonville and Louisville leaders for committing to a water ferry on game nights and possibly event nights. It will be a nice, traffic-free way to eat or stay in Indiana and make it to the arena on time.
I’ll have more thoughts on the arena in a column Sunday.

... to the town of Sellersburg for its positive marks — via the absence of serious negative marks — from the Indiana State Board of Accounts on its recently released 2008 audit.
In a time where some other government agencies have received numerous demerits, Sellersburg, you did a fine job.

... to ET’s Memphis Bar-B-Q in downtown Jeffersonville.
Last weekend, my husband and I and two other couples had the pleasure to dine at ET’s at the corner of Spring and Market streets. Let me tell you people, if you like good food and great service at a reasonable price, ET’s is all that and more.
So get out there and try ET’s and let’s keep this great place in Jeffersonville to eat and socialize open.
They also have fish every Friday.
