READER CHEERS
... to Charlestown City Council person Ruth Ann Rawlings for bringing attention to our community that the city was not in compliance of flag etiquette regarding lowering the American Flag on city property on holidays, and following the president’s and governor’s orders.
The city agreed to put someone in charge. Well guess what? They were lowered Patriot’s Day, Sept. 11, 2012.
Thanks Ruth Ann.

... to less-than-optimum service from the city.
First, let me say I think we have excellent garbage pickup in New Albany.
On Aug. 7, my can caught in the truck and would not release. I called to report this and was told they were not allowed to take the cans. Obviously, they had no choice.
I asked about a replacement and was told they no longer supplied cans. After several calls, I was told they would give me another can.
The can I was given was a commercial size can which I could barely move. I called and they said they would pick up the can if I could not use it. They did. I still feel they owe me a small garbage can.

... to the thoughtless, selfish bonehead that dumped their living room suite on the formerly beautiful tree-lined section of New Albany’s riverfront.
I am sure it was dumped under the cover of darkness. To whomever committed this atrocious crime you should be fined to the max and be forbidden from enjoying our riverfront for years. To city officials — with all the storm damage to trees — I am sure you are too busy to have picked this eyesore up already. It is at approximately East 10th Street and River Road.
Signed insulted resident,
