JEFFERSONVILLE —
A sale through Craigslist ended with a man facing charges for using counterfeit $100 bills.
The man who posted the ad leading to the sale on the online website told police that he had sold an iPad to a man who paid in fake $100 bills, according to an Indiana State Police release. ISP then had the victim contact the buyer back, telling him he had something else to sell. The suspect met the victim Tuesday night, with troopers watching in a downtown Jeffersonville restaurant parking lot. The buyer then paid again with more counterfeit $100 bills.
Troopers then arrested the man, identified as Domonique D. Edmonds, 21, of Louisville. He is facing 14 counts of forgery, a class C felony, theft, a D felony, and driving while suspended prior, an A misdemeanor.
A total of 14 counterfeit $100 bills were taken from Edmonds.
People who feel they may have been a victim of Edmonds are asked to call ISP at 812-246-5424.
If convicted, Edmonds faces two to eight years for each C felony charge, six months to three years for the D felony charge and up to one year for the misdemeanor.
