NEW ALBANY —
New Albany Police Department detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred just after midnight Dec. 3 at Dairy Queen, 2116 E. Spring St.
A witness told police he saw what he believed to be a male running out of Dairy Queen carrying a large item, according to the police report. The witness said the subject jumped into a vehicle that resembled a Ford Tempo, either silver or brown in color.
Officers noticed a broken window on the west side of the business. About $2,300 was stolen from one of the safes. No arrests have been made in the incident, but according to the report, an employee was questioned about the burglary.
“We are still investigating, trying to put things together,” said NAPD Capt. Ken Fudge.
On Nov. 28, police were called to the BP Station, 2212 E. Spring St., after a 56-year-old woman reported she was attacked and robbed. However, despite the proximity between the two businesses, Fudge does not believe they were committed by the same individual or that there is a crime spree in the area.
“They were both crimes of opportunity,” he said.
