CLARK COUNTY —
On Friday, shortly after 3:30 p.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Nate Abbott observed a black 2007 Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 65 north bound near the 12.6 mile marker, with windows that were illegally tinted. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and as he was talking to the occupants he could sense something just wasn’t right, according to a release from ISP.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded approximately 46 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana was located in both the passenger and trunk areas of the car in luggage, a backpack and a cloth bag.
The street value of the seized marijuana is more than $46,000.
Two people were arrested including the driver, Amanda Lucia Arellano, 20, of San Manuel Street, Edinburg, Texas. She was charged with dealing marijuana more than 10 pounds, a C felony, possession of marijuana more than 30 grams, a D felony and maintaining a common nuisance, a D felony.
Also arrested was Irma Maldonado, 46, from an unknown address in Texas. She was charged with dealing marijuana more than 10 pounds, a C felony, possession of marijuana more than 30 grams, a D felony and maintaining a common nuisance, a D felony.
Anover juvenile passenger was taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on juvenile delinquency charges.
