JEFFERSONVILLE —
A Jeffersonville man was arrested Monday night after police say he purchased prescriptions drugs from overseas and then resold them, shipping them through the mail.
Christopher Collard, 20, of Jeffersonville was arrested on charges that he allegedly bought Xanax and other narcotics from a source overseas, was having the drugs shipped to his address and was then reselling the drugs and shipping them out to various locations in the United States.
A joint task force between Clarksville and Jeffersonville Police Departments, and U.S. Postal Service inspectors began investigating Pollard after a package allegedly containing the prescription drugs was discovered after it was sent back to the post office for having the wrong address, said Clarksville Police Chief Mark Palmer.
Police were able to attain a search warrant and searched Collard’s home in the 200 block of Fairview Avenue in Jeffersonville. During the search, police discovered illegal prescriptions, LSD and marijuana, according to a press release.
Clarksville Police Detective Joel DeMoss said Collard had people taking the pills to the post office and mailing them for him. Police are still investigating who Collard was selling the drugs to and how the buyers were contacted.
He was booked into the Michael L. Becher Adult Correctional complex Monday.
Collard was charged with dealing in a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of public housing, a class A felony; possession of a controlled within 1,000 feet of public housing, a class C felony; dealing in marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing, a class C felony; possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing, a class D felony; and maintaining common nuisance, a class D felony.
