NEW ALBANY —
New Albany police are conducting a homicide investigation after the bodies of a woman and two children were found in Binford Park, which is located off Graybrook Lane, around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.
NAPD Maj. Keith Whitlow said someone walking through the park spotted the bodies in Falling Run Creek, which runs through the park.
Whitlow said one of the children appeared to be around 2 years old and the other was an adolescent. He confirmed authorities were conducting a “homicide investigation” but did not release the cause of death or identities of the three. Whitlow also did not elaborate on whether any weapons were found at the scene.
More information will be released following autopsies, he said.
Several police officers were on the scene a few minutes after the bodies were discovered and the entrance to the park was taped off.
Whitlow said it’s been nine years since a body was found in Binford Park, which sits directly across the street from New Albany Springs Golf Course.
“We haven’t had many ones like this, especially with children,” Whitlow said.
