CHARLESTOWN —
Charlestown Police Maj. Jason Brody said 56-year-old Kevin Hennegan was arrested at Charlestown Middle School on school property Friday, according to newsgathering partner WLKY-32. He is charged with maintaining a public nuisance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Hennegan is a social studies teacher and has been employed with the Greater Clark County Schools Corp. since 1990. He’s been suspended with pay pending an internal investigation.
“The Charlestown Police Department is overseeing the investigation and I do not have all the details of the arrest at this time,” said GCCS Superintendent Andrew Melin in a statement released following the incident. “Mr. Hennegan also has been suspended with pay pending an administrative investigation into this very serious situation. Greater Clark County Schools is currently on winter break and our investigation is limited in nature until classes resume on Jan. 7, 2013.”
The school corporation said there is no indication students were involved in the matter, according to the release.
“This is an unfortunate situation for Mr. Hennegan, but more importantly Charlestown Middle School and Greater Clark County Schools,” Melin said. “Charlestown Middle School students, parents and faculty should be assured that the district is dedicated to the school’s success.”
