CLARKSVILLE —
Clarksville Police Department officers were called to an attempted armed robbery at a convenience store at 607 Kopp Lane on Dec. 27.
The clerk working at the time of the incident reported that a person wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt walked toward the front of the store and pointed a handgun at him about 8:45 p.m.
The hooded robber then ordered the employee to give him money, police reported.
“[The employee] stated that he told the suspect to take the cash, at which time the suspect fired one shot at him from a handgun ... ,” according to the police report.
The bullet struck a metal door leading to a separate room that the employee was able to swing shut behind him during the assault.
The employee told police that the suspect fled on foot toward Bel-Air Motel. Officers searched the area, but no suspect was found.
Anyone with information on the robbery should call CPD at 812-284-4636, an anonymous tip line.
