JEFFERSONVILLE —
A University of Louisville HIV/AIDS clinic is closing down its Jeffersonville branch location.
The Wings Clinic — a facility that provides comprehensive medical care, as well as physical and emotional support to all HIV positive individuals and persons living with HIV/AIDS — announced it is closing down the location that was open once-a-week, for a half-day, in Jeffersonville. The clinic’s operations will move to its Louisville office on the second floor of the ACB building, 550 S. Jackson St..
“Essentially, we’re trying to streamline service,” said U of L Spokesperson Julie Heflin. “We had about 75 patients that were going to that clinic,” she said of the Jeffersonville location.
The clinic was located at 1301 Akers Ave., near Clark Memorial Hospital.
She added that the Louisville location has a patient list of about 1,600, serving people from seven different counties. Heflin said by consolidating operations the goal is to be able to allow patients to receive better care and better access to care.
“It may be less convenient to come to Louisville ... but [patients] have an expanded opportunity to be seen here,” she said.
She said patients can be seen at the Louisville location by appointment and walk-ins are also welcome.
