Garr delivers 13 kills in Dragons’ win at North Harrison

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — One night after losing to nationally-ranked Sacred Heart Academy from Louisville, the Providence volleyball team bounced back on Thursday at the Larkin Center with a 25-15, 25-13, 25-11 victory over Southwestern.

Taylor Wilson led the Class 2A No. 2 Pioneer hitters with 24 kills and three blocks. Teammates Audrey Shannon and Patricia Mattingly each recorded double-doubles. Shannon had 11 digs and 11 service points and Mattingly made 32 assists and 17 service points.

Also for Providence, Jacquie Hornung spiked six kills and had two service aces and Abby Spitznagel made eight digs.

“Coming into the match tonight, our team wanted to start strong and get out to a quick lead,” Pioneers’ coach Terri Purichia said. “Southwestern is a possible postseason opponent for us, so we considered them a big match, especially after not playing to our potential [on Wednesday] night against Sacred Heart. I thought we were able to execute the game plan and overpower Southwestern at the net and at the service line. We had a lot of players that played well tonight, so this was a good win for our team.”
