INDIANAPOLIS —
Providence senior Erin Duncan was the recipient of the Class A girls’ soccer 2012 Mental Attitude Award. Duncan was selected by members of the Indiana High School Athletic Association executive committee.
“The award means a lot,” Duncan said. “It shows that I’ve worked hard on and off the field.”
Duncan was a three-year starter who had six goals and six assists as a senior and helped lead the Pioneers to the Class A state title in 2011. Also a basketball player and track star, Duncan ranks at the top of her class academically.
Duncan — the daughter of Elaine and Jerry Duncan of Sellersburg — is a member of National Honor Society, is a student ambassador, a Eucharistic minister and the president of Spanish Club.
Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance — the IHSAA’s corporate sponsor — presented a scholarship check worth $1,000 to Providence High School in Duncan’s name on Saturday.
