Baker makes IBCA Senior All-State team
Jeffersonville senior Darryl Baker has been named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Subway Senior All-State team.
This season, the 6-foot-2 senior guard averaged 23.4 points per game to lead the Red Devils (24-4) to the outright Hoosier Hills Conference championship and the Class 4A sectional and regional titles at Seymour.
Six area seniors received honorable-mention votes for the squad. They were Providence’s George Knott and Dalton Duley, Charlestown’s Chris Braun, Borden’s Billy Kirchgessner, Clarksville’s Aidan McEwen and New Albany’s Jermaine Parrish.
Four area players got honorable-mention votes for the IBCA/Subway Underclass All-State team. Three of those were from Jeff in juniors Drew Ellis and Keenan Williams and sophomore Myles Harvey. The other area player was Clarksville’s Calvin McEwen.
Four Jeff players make all-HHC team
Four players from outright Hoosier Hills Conference champion Jeffersonville have been selected to the 2012-13 all-HHC team.
The Red Devil quartet includes senior Darryl Baker, juniors Drew Ellis and Keenan Williams and sophomore Myles Harvey. In addition, Jeff coach Chad Gilbert earned this season’s HHC Coach of the Year award.
New Albany only had one player on the all-conference team in senior guard Jermaine Parrish.
The rest of the all-HHC selections were Columbus East’s Bryce Lienhoop and Nate Rich, Bedford North Lawrence’s Blaze Byrer, Madison’s Landon Perry and Jennings County’s Bailey Sanders.
Six area players made the honorable-mention list in New Albany’s Garrett Arnold, Leondre McBirth and Josh Rogers, Floyd Central’s Codie Hamsley and Drew Hussung and Jeff’s Jacquari Chandler.
Other honorable-mention selections were East’s Ridge Harris and Kyle Taylor, Madison’s Nick Macon and Ryan Thurston, Jennings County’s Brad Hunt and Tommy Taylor, Seymour’s Landon Booth and Bedford’s Morgan Cummings.

• Jeff Thompson (Louisville baseball, Floyd Central graduate, Jr.) — top performance: winning pitcher in a starting role in the Cardinals’ 12-4 home victory over Pittsburgh on Friday, seven innings pitched, three runs allowed (all earned), three hits, seven strikeouts, three walks; notes: Thompson became the sixth pitcher in U of L history to earn 10 or more victories in a season on Friday; he is one win away from tying the school record for most victories in a season; Friday’s win clinched the Cardinals a share of the Big East Conference championship; they claimed the outright conference title on Saturday with a 7-4 home triumph over the Panthers; team records: 46-10 overall, 20-4 Big East; Thompson’s record: 10-1. -
