SELLERSBURG —
Four Silver Creek volleyball players spiked five kills apiece in the host Dragons’ 25-9, 25-7, 25-8 win over Charlestown on Thursday night.
Sammi Smith paced Silver Creek with nine assists and five kills, while teammate Haley Garr had five kills, four service aces and three blocks. Also for the Dragons, Kendra Kirchgessner and Danni Densford each had five kills, Kaitlyn Ramser made 16 assists and Lauren Cunliffe had three blocks.
“I felt like the girls were focused throughout the match,” Silver Creek coach Jeff Zimmerman said. “We had contributions from a lot of different players, and we are going to need to be a complete team over the next two weeks as we face some very tough competition.”
Charlestown senior Emily Young had four blocks.

• Mustangs top Jeff: Caroline Ricks smacked 36 kills and made 15 digs to lead host New Washington past Jeffersonville, 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 14-25, 15-10. Teammate Courtney Amick dished out 25 assists.

• Highlanders collect fourth victory: Sydney Engle delivered 12 kills to lead host Floyd Central past Bedford North Lawrence, 25-8, 25-21, 25-13. Also for the Highlanders, Remington Bowman dished out 29 assists, Hannah Joly spiked eight kills and Jordan Alvey had seven kills and seven aces.

• Braves sweep Rock Creek: Shelbie Farvour had nine aces and seven kills to lead host Borden past Rock Creek Academy, 25-18, 25-9, 25-19. Teammate Morgan Mast was 17-of-17 serving with four aces along with 21 assists.

• Hornets win at Eastern: Junior Kerri Cochran spiked 10 kills to lead visiting Henryville over Eastern, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25, 25-16, 15-12. Also for the Hornets, Shelby Basham smacked eight kills, Jasmine Harrell made 25 digs and Chelsea LaMotte dished out 20 assists.

• Generals fall to North Harrison: Ali Sparkman had 10 digs, six kills and two blocks in Clarksville’s home loss to North Harrison, 25-13, 25-20, 25-9.

BOYS’ SOCCER
• Red Devils blow out Madison: Jordan Vejar kicked in three goals to lead visiting Jeff past Madison on Thursday, 9-2.
The Red Devils’ Skyler Davis had three assists and two goals, while teammate Brian Fischer had two goals and one assist. Also for Jeff, Leonard Kwitonda and Austin Ali each made a goal and Austin Goodson dished out one assist.
“Playing at Madison is always hard. Their field is narrow and short,” Red Devils’ coach Carson Webb said. “After they scored the first goal of the game, we responded rather quickly.”

• Dragons lose MSC opener: Host Silver Creek fell in its Mid-Southern Conference opener to Salem, 1-0.
Dragons’ goalkeeper John Osterhoudt made three saves. Silver Creek got outshot 10-7.

GIRLS’ SOCCER
• Dragons, Devils play to scoreless tie: Host Jeff and Silver Creek played to a scoreless tie on Thursday.
Despite the deadlock, Dragons’ coach Patrick Anderson liked his team’s effort.
“I was pleased with the way we played, but I think we are capable of playing better,” he said. “Jeff’s defense was solid and we just couldn’t break through and score. It was a tough nonconference game that was a good test for us.”

• Pioneers lose to CAL: Christian Academy of Louisville knocked off host Providence, 2-1. Alyssa Jones scored the Pioneers’ lone goal.

BOYS’ TENNIS
• Bulldogs roll on the road: Visiting New Albany won four matches in straight sets in defeating Borden on Thursday, 5-0.
The Bulldogs’ Kyle Landrum defeated Josh Vollstedt at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, New Albany’s Arvind Dhanapal knocked off Hayden Casey, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bulldogs’ No. 1 doubles team of Ryan Zirnheld and Brett Medley won 7-5, 7-5. At No. 2 doubles, Jake Kennard and Tanner Goller beat the Braves’ T.J. Wagoner and Elijah Franklin, 7-5, 6-3.
New Albany’s Alec Bates won the lone three-set match, beating Kamden Hurst at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

• Pioneers defeat town rivals: Visiting Providence got victories at all three singles spots in a 5-0 win over town rival Clarksville. Winning for the Pioneers in singles action were Will Andres, Nolan Carrico and Jacob Quinkert.

GIRLS’ GOLF
• CAI defeats Trinity Lutheran: Christian Academy shot a team score of 193 to win a dual meet against Trinity Lutheran on Thursday at Hidden Creek Golf Club.
The Warriors’ Sydney Shrebtienko earned medalist honors with a 37. Rounding out the Christian Academy scoring were Karlie Byrd and Taylor Jones each with a 48 and Hayley Lievers with a 60.
