Lady Grenadiers Brescia 86-82 In Overtime
NEW ALBANY — The IU Southeast women’s basketball team outlasted Brescia University 86-82 in overtime on Senior Night.
Senior Ashmere Woods led the Grenadiers with 26 points and nine rebounds and fellow senior Kortney Woods had 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the win.
Heather Wheat added 23 points, seven assists and seven rebounds in the win.
The Lady Bearcats (15-14, 7-8 KIAC) forced overtime when Sarah King hit a jumper which tied the game with six seconds to play.
IU Southeast (16-12, 8-7 KIAC) led by as many as 19 before the Lady Bearcats closed the second half on a 21-8 run.
Ashmere Woods and Andrea Owen hit key free throws in overtime to secure the win.
Kaylyn Cecil had 31 points for Brescia.
IU Southeast heads to Berea on Saturday for a KIAC quarterfinal.
Billups shines as IUS men defeat Brescia on Senior Night
NEW ALBANY — Senior Terence Billups had 18 points to lead IU Southeast to a 77-67 win over Brescia on Senior Night.
Three other Grenadiers scored in double-figures. Jake Simpson had 16, Cameron Mitchell had 12 and Kegan Clark had 10.
The swarming Grenadier defense forced 26 Bearcat turnovers in the game and KIAC-champion IU Southeast scored 34 points off Brescia miscues.
Myron Christian had 17 points and Brett Jackson added 16 for the Bearcats.
IU Southeast (24-4, 14-1 KIAC) shot 50 percent from the field and 41 percent (11-27) from three-point range.
IU Southeast hosts Alice Lloyd on Saturday at 2 p.m. in a KIAC quarterfinal matchup.
