LITTLE LEAGUE ROUNDUP: Charlestown Juniors on verge of advancing at state

Silver Creek 13s finish state pool unbeaten, D-V softball eliminated

CLARKSVILLE — Charlestown appeared to be on its way to improving to 2-1 in the state tournament when the poor weather hit Friday.

Charlestown led Fort Wayne Times Corners 11-1 in the fourth inning when play at Clarksville Little League was suspended.

Earlier in the day, Charlestown fell to 1-1 in pool play after a 17-5 loss to South Bend Waggoner in a game that was suspended after Thursday’s poor weather.

Silver Creek’s 13-year-old All-Stars finished pool play unbeaten at the state tournament in Wabash with 20-6 victory over Lowell Friday.  Creek had 19 hits, led by Blake Wurm’s 4-for-4, five-run, five-RBI performance.

The Sellersburg stars will face Wabash today in one state semifinal.  The District V softball All-Stars were wliminated after splitting a pair of games in the Central Region tournament at South Bend on Friday.
