H.S. GIRLS' GOLF: Bulldogs end up third in Seymour Invite

Floyd Central finishes four shots behind in fourth

SEYMOUR — The New Albany girls’ golf team finished third in the Seymour Invitational on Wednesday at Shadowood Golf Course with a team score of 349.

Sophomore Heidi Steinert shot the Bulldogs’ low round for the second day in a row, firing an 80. Steinert carded an 82 in Tuesday’s Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational at Covered Bridge Golf Club.

New Albany sophomore Franci Burton recorded an 88. Teammate Haley Roth had a 90, while senior Bailey Biggs rounded out the Bulldogs’ scoring with a 91. New Albany freshman Chloe Watts shot a 115.

Floyd Central placed fourth with a team score of 353. Junior Eliza Hudson topped the Highlanders’ scorecard with an 83, followed by teammate Scarlett Hartlage with an 88. Floyd Central’s Ashley Dankovich and Jessica Ingram each shot a 91, while Highlander sophomore Morgan Stanley chipped in a 92.

Providence finished 11th with a team score of 487, while Silver Creek fielded an incomplete team. No individual scores from either team were reported at press time.

New Albany and Providence will meet in a dual meet on Tuesday at Valley View Golf Club. Floyd Central plays in the Bedford North Lawrence Invitational today at Otis Park Golf Course in Bedford. Silver Creek will face Corydon on Tuesday at Champions Pointe Golf Club.
