Grendadiers smash Spalding in three sets
The IU Southeast volleyball team got back on track after dropping its last two matches, defeating Spalding on Thursday night 27-25, 25-22, 27-25.
Jade Troutman and Coral Maybriar combined for 29 of the Grenadiers’ 47 kills. Troutman had 15 kills and Maybriar 14. Also for IU Southeast, Sara Schum had six kills and Lindsey Maymon added five.
Meaghen Tompkins had a match-high 33 assists for IU Southeast.
The Grenadiers (8-7, 4-2 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) had a solid hitting percentage of .327 in the match.
The Grenadiers will return to action on Tuesday when they host Berea at 7 p.m.

Jeff-NA tickets on sale
New Albany High School and Jeffersonville are both selling tickets to their annual rivalry matchup today.
The New Albany High School athletic office is selling tickets from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. today, while the Jeff athletic office is selling them from 1-3 p.m. Tickets are $5 each.

Bats announce 2013 schedule
The Louisville Bats will open their 2013 season at Louisville Slugger Field on Thursday, April 4 hosting the Toledo Mud Hens. Eleven of the Bats’ 72 home games will fall on Saturdays, including Thunder Over Louisville on April 20.
New in 2013, the Bats will feature promotional giveaways on Saturdays, including Corky Miller and Aroldis Chapman bobblehead giveaways, along with three cap giveaways. Season ticket packages are available for as low as $80.
Louisville also has home games on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27 vs. Columbus), a Fourth of July Fireworks Show (Wednesday, July 3 vs. Indianapolis) and Labor Day (Monday, September 2 vs. Indianapolis).
The 2013 season marks both the franchise’s 14th year of baseball at Louisville Slugger Field and 14th year as the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
Full and partial season tickets, along with group outings and suite rentals, are available by calling the Bats front office at 502-212-2287.

JYBL registration
The Jeffersonville Youth Basketball League is currently registering for the upcoming season.
Registration forms are available at all Jeffersonville elementary and middle schools and the Jeff Parks and Recreation Department, located in Jeffersonville City Hall. In addition, registration forms will be available online at www.jybl.org in the next couple weeks.
Any boy in grades 3-8, currently attending one of Jeffersonville’s eight elementary schools, two middle schools and/or residing within the district of one of these schools, is eligible to participate.
Registration fees are $45 for first player and $35 for each additional player. The fees should be mailed to JYBL, P.O. Box 903, Jeffersonville, IN 47130, before Tuesday, Oct. 16. Any registrations postmarked after Monday, Oct. 15 or received at the placement clinic will be subject to a $5 per player late fee.
Placement clinics will be held on Oct. 16 at Jeffersonville High School’s Johnson Arena for grades 3-4 at 6 p.m., grades 5-6 at 7 p.m. and grades 7-8 at 8 p.m. Any player not attending the placement clinic, excluding the head coach’s son, will be placed on a team by lottery draw.

Jeff High alumni game
The Jeffersonville High School Baseball Boosters are sponsoring the second annual JHS alumni baseball game and family day on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Don Poole Field in Jeff.
Registration is at 3 p.m. There will be a home run derby at 4 p.m., followed by batting practice and dinner from 5-6:30 p.m. and the alumni game at 7 p.m.
Former Jeff High baseball coaches Don Poole and Al Rabe will be throwing out the first pitches.
Registration is $40, which includes player fee and a T-shirt.
