Grenadiers fall in overtime
Indiana University Southeast lost its home opener on Tuesday night to Kentucky Christian College in overtime, 80-78.
Christina DeMaio led the Grenadiers with 22 points and 12 rebounds. She shot 8-of-16 from the field. Also for IUS (1-2), Meagan Mineer tallied 20 points, Melanie Keith had 13, and Brittany Caple scored nine.
Charlestown graduate Kelsie Thrasher had four points for Kentucky Christian. IUS will travel to Mid-Continent on Saturday.
College wrestling
Rosbottom qualifies for national tourney
Last Saturday, Cumberland University (Tenn.) freshman Daniel Rosbottom won a national qualifying match in double overtime at the Patriot Open in Williamsburg, Ky.
The victory earned the Jeffersonville graduate a spot in the NAIA national tournament later this season. It was the first collegiate tournament for Rosbottom.

Hensley places seventh for IUPUI
IUPUI freshman Megan Hensley placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in the Panther Invitational last weekend in Charleston, Ill. The Jeffersonville graduate posted a time of 2:05.79.
She also finished 15th in the 100 freestyle and 16th in the 200 individual medley.
On Oct. 22, Hensley was 15th in the 100 freestyle and 16th in the 200 IM in the Indiana Intercollegiates meet at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis.
IUPUI will host a quadrangular meet on Friday.
High school boys’ basketball
Jeff to have red-white scrimmage
The Jeffersonville High School Red Devils Boys’ Basketball Club will host the Chuck E. Cheese’s red and white scrimmage game on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Johnson Arena.
The Jeff varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams will scrimmage against each other along with the seventh- and eighth-grade boys’ teams from Parkview and River Valley middle schools.
Special guests will be the five-time national-champion University of Louisville Lady Birds and the Cardinal Birds. The basketball club will have a meeting after the scrimmage.
Cost of admission is a canned good item for Haven House Services.
