HENRYVILLE —
It’s just a little way to say thank you.
Two Christian musical artists, Jason Gray and Todd Agnew, are scheduled to play a free acoustic show at Henryville Baptist Church on Thursday, Nov. 1.
Jeff Porter, a member of Henryville First Baptist who is organizing the event, said it is a way to give back to the community in the wake of the tornadoes that struck the town in March.
“The outflow from people from around the country was overwhelming, but to see people who had lost everything helping others was amazing to me,” he said. “Seeing the community help each other out reminded us we would like to thank the community and that’s how this really came about.”
Porter said sponsors and individual donations helped to bring the artists to the area, along with a lot of people donating time and services to put on the show. Doors for the concert will open at 6 p.m. with music scheduled to begin around 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are available before the show and those with tickets will be seated first. General admission will follow, with seating for up to 300 in the church.
But again, Porter said the purpose is to thank the community that rallied around one another in the wake of a disaster, even if they were among those affected.
“It kind of overwhelms you when you see people that have lost more than the people they are helping,” he said. “When you have a community like that its real important to say it’s appreciated. People today are a little slow to remember to say thank you. We just want to tell them how much we appreciate everything they’ve done.”
